Screen Printing Information
Screen printing or silk screen printing was first patented by Samuel Simon in England in 1907. In the beginning, screen printing was used to apply bright colors and patterns to fabrics and wallpaper.
Advertisers soon picked up the screen printing process for their promotions, and the rest is history.
Initially, the ink is mixed to the required color and applied to the screen. Squeegees are used to push ink through the mesh of the screen and onto the garment. When printing onto dark coloured garments, a white layer or flash layer of ink is applied first and then the coloured inks are applied on top of this to ensure an accurate color match.
